Haiku #67

Smoking gives life to
Breath in the visual field
A smog of senses

Is This What You Are Looking For?

I saw the embodiment of my grief
Just the other day
Seated at a table
Alone
In the form of an old woman
Dressed in a black T-shirt (and black slacks)
With an embroidered hibiscus flower
And the script Hawaii
Underneath in white
A bright burst of rainbow threads
Emblazoned the decoration
Making her
Dark sunglasses
And tissue over her mouth
Seem like someone else’s memory
