Silence Speaks

by Joanna

With the force of the anvil
Down upon the glowing iron of my heart
Buried deep within the belly of the fires
You have tempered me

Placed a singed finger into my mouth
To suck the bitter ash
You have made me fly
And you have locked me bound and gagged
Into the underworld of your psyche

When your mind spoke to mine
I was given a perception of truth
And yet you deny the very flood
Of blessed life springing forth
From a radiant source
Of light and prosperity

I find truth so oft misrepresented
I am more than just your plaything
And I am not smiling today
Forced into exile
At the turn of the tide
I am waiting for the waves to recede
Measuring my footsteps to mark the time
